Kilkenny completed the 3-in-a-row on Sunday with a crushing victory over Waterford. The margin of victory was 23 points - the largest since Cork defeated Antrim in 1943. The final score was 3-30 to 1-13.
The game was effectively over as a contest after 20 minutes when Eddie Brennan got Kilkenny’s first goal to make the score 1-10 to 0-4. Brennan ended up with 2-4 from play, 2 more points than in last year’s final when he scored 1-5.
Kilkenny now top the roll of honour for senior All-Ireland titles with 31, one ahead of Cork and six ahead of Tipperary.
Kilkenny have never won 4-in-a-row but their odds of doing so are now as low as 8/13.
