The Kilkenny team which is attempting to win the county’s first 3-in-a-row in modern times has been announced.
Similar to the Waterford announcement last night, there are no changes from their semi-final victory. Henry Shefflin has been picked at full forward with Martin Comerford at right half forward.
The full team is:
PJ Ryan
M Kavanagh
N Hickey
J Tyrrell
T Walsh
B Hogan
JJ Delaney
J Fitzpatrick
D Lyng
M Comerford
R Power
E Larkin
E Brennan
H Shefflin
A Fogarty
There is only one change from the team which defeated Limerick in last year’s final. Richie Power starts instead of Willie O’Dwyer. In fact Power replaced O’Dwyer after just 26 minutes of that game.

The Waterford team to contest their first All-Ireland final in 45 years has been named.
There are no changes in personnel from the semi-final win over Tipperary. There is one positional switch. As expected Ken McGrath will wear his favoured number 6 jersey and Declan Prendergast will be on the edge of the square.
The team is as follows:
Clinton Hennessy
Aidan Kearney Declan Prendergast Eoin Murphy
Tony Browne Ken McGrath Kevin Moran
Michael Walsh J Nagle
Dan Shanahan Seamus Prendergast Stephen Molumphy
Eoin McGrath Eoin Kelly John Mullane
The Kilkenny team should be announced tonight.

The most recent championship meeting of Waterford and Kilkenny was in the All-Ireland semi-final of 2004. The game was played in wet, slippery conditions. 3 first half goals (including a pair by Henry Shefflin) gave the Cats a lead that they never relinquished despite a spirited second half display by Waterford. Paul Flynn had one of his best performances in Croke Park, scoring 13 points (4 from play).
Waterford played the game without John Mullane (suspended after being sent off in the Munster final) and with a new goalkeeper, Ian O’Regan. To date, this has been O’Regan’s only match for his county.
The teams for Sunday have yet to be announced but Kilkenny will probably start with 9 of the team that played that day (M Kavanagh, N Hickey, T Walsh, JJ Delaney, D Lyng, E Brennan, J Fitzpatrick, M Comerford & H Shefflin). Waterford will probably also start with 9 of the 2004 team (E Murphy, D Prendergast, T Browne, K McGrath, E Kelly, D Shanahan, M Walsh, S Prendergast & E McGrath).
The final score that day was 3-12 to 0-18.
